Founder / Director / Coach
Carl Neuburger is the Founder and Director of the Portland Volleyball Club. He has coached the club "at all its age levels" for over 20 years. Presently, Carl is the Head Coach at West Linn High School and coached his team to a 6A State Championship in 2007 and a 4A State Championship in 2003. For 10 years Carl was the Head Women's NCAA Division I Volleyball Coach at the University of Portland. PVC is considered one of the premier junior development programs in the nation. Coach Neuburger was honored by the 1989 Volleyball Festival with it's Award for Distinguished Service to Junior Volleyball.
Our parent and player alumni might say that our record speaks for itself, but PVC is about an ongoing pursuit of excellence in everything we do. We continue to adjust to player and family needs in training, scheduling of competitions, and seasonal costs. The times demand a closer look by responsible clubs to examine “Bang for the Buck” when budgeting travel.
Due to continued interest in PVC, and our commitment to offering a top flight volleyball opportunity for young women, this year’s program will feature multiple teams in each age group. 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U age groups will offer multiple teams consisting of 10-12 players each. This will allow for practice intensity and effective coaching to further enhance each player’s development.
PVC will not sacrifice quality for quantity in player numbers. Our focus will be on a number of teams where PVC can guarantee quality coaching for everyone.
Recently, I interviewed 6th year PVC coach, Kim Pierce and asked her about her journey through volleyball from PVC to present.
